The International Kitchen Exhaust Cleaning Association or IKECA recently ran it’s annual Fall Technical Seminar & Expo. The event was held in Kansas City, Missouri, U.S.A. and featured the second annual kitchen exhaust cleaning industry tradeshow.
This year’s event included a range of informational seminars and product demonstrations. The focuses of the day being education, safety, and business management.
- Informational seminars made for both industry leaders and technicians
- Hands-on exhibitions from vendors and industry service providers
- A special presentation, undertaken using the hotel venue’s actual kitchen
- Networking amongst industry leaders and exhaust cleaning professionals
The expo provided attendees with access to some of the industries most active and supportive vendors. The response from those present was overwhelmingly positive.
Presentations & speakers
The event was kicked off with a speech regarding the current state of the exhaust cleaning industry from IKECA President Kathy Slomer.
This was followed by presentations on a wide range of topics. Including discussions of heat illness prevention, confined spaces training, and safety culture.
Guest speakers included Bruce Walsh, Vice President of CBIZ Business Services. As well as Eric Scolari, Operations, Sales and Safety Manager at RHP Mechanical Systems.
Funds raised for local fire department
Another positive outcome of the event is that over the two days, more than $1500 was raised for the local Kansas City Fire Department. The money was donated by generous IKECA members, sponsors, exhibitors and other attendees.
